Dear Nagarathars

First I would like to thank you all for the amazing turnout and fantastic team work from everyone for making the Diwali celebrations very enjoyable. We could have started a bit earlier and finished earlier but lets try in our next function.

The Diwali celebrations 2007 function was held on Saturday 10th November 2007 at St. Peter & St. Paul, Bromley Parish Church, Church Road, Bromley – BR2 0EG.

Special thanks to the following people

1. Sarvajith (2007-2008) Committee members for organizing this event.
2. All the achi’s for bringing home made delicious traditional chettiar food items.
3. Mr Radha and Mrs Sumathy for sponsoring the hall.
4. Dr . Karuppiah Thiagarajan and Mrs Geetha Karuppiah for sponsoring the fire works.
5. Mr Thiagarajan and Mrs Annapoorani achi for the gift for Man of the day and Woman of the day.
6. Dr. Alagappan for the additional fire works.
7. Dr Manickam Thiagarajan and Mrs Meena Manickam for sponsoring a sum towards the gifts for kids.
8. Mr Thiagarajan and Mrs Annapoorani achi for bringing sami picture and vilaku.
9. Mr Subbu for bringing CD player and organising the ‘sound’ service.
10. All those who brought soft drinks and water cans.
11. Miss Janu Manickam for the nice song.
12. Mrs Valli Lakshamanan for organising the games.

The meeting started with a welcome speech by our president Mr. N. Thiagarajan.

Kuthu vialkku was lighted by Mrs Annapoorani achi and Miss Janu Manickam gave us a nice prayer song.

We had a raffle ticket and a game of matching cards among the members.

We then followed it with introducing a mysterious email writer under the nick name silamban who happened to be Mr. Rama Sellappan. We then introduced all our new members.

Then every one enjoyed the fire works. All elders and kids alike joined in the fire works. It was a fabulous display followed with a fantastic chettinad dinner made by our achis.

Voting was conducted to select Man of the day and woman of the day. It was conducted just for fun and used as a way to select couple of people to get the two gifts. Mr Senthil Thiagarajan and Mrs Valli Lakshmanan were the winners.

We introduced the London Nagarathar Sangam calendar for the year 2008. A special thanks to Mr. Sekkapan for going through a lot of trouble and getting the calendar done. We could not find photographs with all the members in it for the calendar. I Apologise on behalf of the committee as for logistical reasons we could not wait and take a picture at later date.

Special thanks to Mrs Meena Manickam (United medicare) and UAE Exchange for sponsoring this year calendar. Special thanks to Subbu for getting the sponsorship from UAE Exchange.

There are additional contribution of £25 pounds from Mr N. Thiagarajan and £20 pounds from Mrs Vanitha KarunaMoorthy for the calendar.

We know we promised a group photo which was missed because of lack of time and a bit of confusion at the end which this time is planned in the next meet as the first item in our agenda. Apologies to all members for the same.

Special thanks to all who helped in cleaning the hall at the end.
