Valli Aachi organized "Thiruvalluvar Day" event in Bromley Hall, Kent which was well attended by many of our members with their families. The event was fun filled with lots of varieties and games. Prizes were distributed to all the winners, followed by lovely dinner.
Virodhi Tamil New year was celebrated with usual joy and Sangam Annual General Meeting elected a new committee for the new year. Mr and Mrs Ramasellappan (a) silamban's daughter Mani Meghalai celebrated her 2nd birthday with all the members.
Summer Trip - Leeds Castle: All shoes and jackets were finally on and we were ready to march to the castle, but weren’t too surprised to be greeted by rain. Our prayers to rain gods were answered instantly with bright sunshine.more....
Justice AR.Lakshmanan, Chairman of Law Commission and former Judge of Supreme Court of India, visited London along with Mr. A.Muthu, Managing Director of SAF Yeast Co.Pvt Ltd. Mr. Palaniappa Chettiar, Trustee, London Sri Murugan Temple invited Mr. AR. Lakshmanan to the Temple where he met many nagarathars and was honoured by a special pooja.
A few London Nagarathar members namely, Valli Lakshman, Selvaganesan Ramanathan, Mani Ramanathan, Valliappan and Raja Alagappan visited Mother Teresa's Missionaries of Charity on 14th June. Missionaries of Charity is a calm, serene, peaceful, well maintained place, serving the destitute and homeless people living in poverty. They have a scheme called 'Soup Kitchen' where they serve food for the homeless people in and around London from 3pm to 6pm everyday except on Thursdays and Saturdays. The members who visited the charity gave donation and some clothes on behalf of the Sangam and did some volunteer work during the visit.
"Nagarathar Perumai" - a book published by Manimegalai Prasuram was released on 31st may at London Lewisham Sivan Koil Mandapam. Mr Palaniappan Chettiar, Trustee, London Murgan Temple released the book and gave a speech on Nagarathars. President Mrs.Valli Lakshman received the first copy. The function was organised by Mr.Ravi Tamilvaanan and attended by many nagarathars
